HC Deb 01 February 1974 vol 868 c197W
Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list the reasons why he refuses to replace invalid tricycles with passenger-carrying vehicles;

(2) if he will amend the regulations so as to provide disabled passengers with allowances and facilities no less than those received by disabled drivers;

(3) if, in view of the increased cost of fuel, he will urgently examine ways of helping disabled drivers with this cost, particularly those people with two-stroke tricycles, by vouchers or other means.

Mr. Jeffrey Archer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take action to permit a spouse or friend of a permanently disabled person to draw private car allowance benefits in the event of the disabled person being unfit to drive himself or herself.

Mr. Alison

These are matters which must await publication and consideration of Lady Sharp's report.
