asked the Secretary of State for Defence which infantry, artillery and armoured major units have not served in Northern Ireland since August 1969.

Infantry Units

  • 1st Battalion Irish Guard.
  • 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Rangers.
  • 2nd Battalion The Royal Irish Rangers.
  • 1st Battalion 2nd King Edward VII's Own
  • Gurkha Rifles (The Sirmoor Rifles).
  • 562
  • 2nd Battalion 2nd King Edward VII's Own Gurkha Rifles (The Sirmoor Rifles).
  • 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles.
  • 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles.
  • 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles.

Artillery Units

  • 26th Field Regiment RA.
  • 24th Missile Regiment RA.
  • 50th Missile Regiment RA.
  • (Some elements of the 24th and 50th Missile Regiments have served one tour).

Armoured Units

  • 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.
  • The Queen's Royal Irish Hussars.
