HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 c462W
Mr. Stephen Ross

to ask the Secretary of State for Industry if he will follow up the Government's initiative in seeking to expand trade with Saudi Arabia by giving assistance to companies to help them produce the required goods in the right quantities at the right time.

Mr. Heffer

The services of the British Overseas Trade Board and Department of Trade are available to advise companies of market requirements. The Chancellor's Budget strategy was designed to switch resources to exports. The banks have been placed in a position to give the highest priority to the financial needs of industry. Government financial assistance under the Industry Act 1972 could also be made available in appropriate cases to eligible concerns.
