HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 c464W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he has taken designed to ensure the free sale of lamb and mutton to countries within the EEC.

Mr. Bishop

The tariff on mutton and lamb imported into other member States from the United Kingdom is being removed in stages. From 1st January 1975 it will be reduced from 12 per cent. to 8 per cent. In the absence of a Community régime for mutton and lamb member States may continue national arrangements for supporting their sheep production.
