HC Deb 16 December 1974 vol 883 c323W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what effect he expects the increased availability of employment on North Sea oil projects to have on the level of employment in the shipbuilding industries when under State control.

Mr. Harold Walker

The demand for workers for North Sea oil projects has created some labour shortages. These are mainly in certain skilled categories and I hope that increased training by the industries concerned will ensure that both oil-related and shipbuilding industries will achieve the necessary levels of skilled labour. The Training Services Agency is also increasing its training facilities to help meet this need.
