asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total number of employees in each area health board; and which boards employ industrial relations officers.

Statistics of the total number of employees in each health board area are not yet available but I shall write to my hon. Friend when I have this information. All the boards except the Orkney, Shetland and Western Isles boards have area personnel officers whose duties include industrial relations. In addition, 16 of the larger districts are appointing district personnel officers.
