§ Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether any attempt has been made to secure EEC grants in order to increase slaughterhouse capacity in Scotland.
§ Mr. William RossGrants from the EEC funds can be made only when the member State concerned also makes a financial contribution to the development. Slaughtering activities are not eligible for Government aid and do not, therefore, qualify. On the question of slaughterhouse capacity in Scotland I would refer the hon.
