HC Deb 11 December 1974 vol 883 c151W
15. Mr. Canavan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for implementing the recommendations of the Hunter Report on salmon and trout fishing.

Mr. William Ross

In view of present difficulties of finding parliamentary time for the legislation needed to deal with this matter comprehensively, I intend to take a suitable opportunity of presenting a short Bill designed to improve public access to trout and other freshwater fishings and to reduce poaching.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the Government intend to introduce legislation in connection with the subject matter of the Hunter Report on salmon fishing.

Mr. William Ross

I refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave today to my hon. Friend the Member for West Stirlingshire (Mr. Canavan).
