§ 61. Mr. Newensasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if it is his policy to formulate long-term plans for the production and supply of food to meet the needs of the British population over the period of the next 30 years or more in the light of the growing world food problem.
§ Mr. BishopDetailed plans for such a long period ahead cannot be relied on. But in determining our agricultural and trading policies we have very much in mind the longer-term considerations. As was stated in the Gracious Speech, we recognise the value to the nation of expanding domestic food production economically and efficiently.
