HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 c506W
Mr. Albert Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will issue advice to the general public concerning the hoarding of food; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Williams

I deprecate the practice of hoarding which runs the risk of making it appear that there is a shortage when no genuine shortage exists. This can then lead to panic buying and gaps on the shelves, causing real hardship for those on lower incomes. I am sure that most people will recognise that hoarding is unnecessary and disruptive.
