§ 52. Mr. Mageeasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to preserve the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus.
§ Mr. CroslandI understand that the proposed redevelopment of the Criterion site involves alterations to the theatre, which is included in the lists of buildings of special architectural or historic interest. Any work that would alter its character therefore requires listed building consent. I am considering whether, on these and other grounds, I should intervene and hold a public inquiry.
