asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether his Department has a copy of the IATA Live Animal Manual; and if he has any proposals to make its recommendations mandatory.

Yes. This is a matter for the Civil Aviation Authority, which has recently approved an IATA proposal that the recommendations contained in the latest edition should become mandatory. The new requirements will take effect on 1st January 1975 and will apply to all international scheduled services touching the United Kingdom.
