HC Deb 02 December 1974 vol 882 c317W
Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what he estimates will be the required increases in the tariff for night storage heaters when this form of heating is sold at an economic price; and what time span he intends to lay down for the price adjustment to the consumer.

Mr. Eadie

If the concessions which were announced on 29th July were ended now, off-peak rates would increase by about 25 per cent. on average, and I understand from the Electricity Council that a further significant increase would be required to reach an economic level. It has not yet been decided when the present concession should be phased out.
