HC Deb 02 December 1974 vol 882 c390W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to continue in 1975–76 the special relief for domestic ratepayers introduced in 1974–75 whereby the Government paid three-fifths of any domestic rate increase above 20 per cent.; and if he has estimated what effect its discontinuance will have on domestic ratepayers in Cornwall in 1975–76.

Mr. John Silkin

My right hon. Friend has no plans to continue the special relief for 1975–76. The effect of its discontinuance on domestic ratepayers in Cornwall will depend on the rates which the authorities there decide to levy.
