§ 38. Mr. Cormackasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many secondary schools in England and Wales had full-time careers teachers on their staffs on 1st January 1974; and how many such schools had no member of staff specifically deputed to give careers advice to school-leavers.
§ Mr. ArmstrongMy Department does not collect routine statistics on the number of careers teachers in schools. However, a survey of careers education in secondary 415W schools, conducted by Her Majesty's inspectors in 1971–72, found that all but 6 percent. of secondary schools surveyed had designated at least one teacher as careers teacher.
