HC Deb 29 April 1974 vol 872 cc348-9W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what steps have been taken, as a result of the near-miss incident involving Concorde on 10th August 1972, to prevent similar occurrences.

Mr. Meacher

The incident was reviewed by the air traffic control services concerned, the Airmiss Section of the Civil Aviation Authority and BAC. As a result, certain improvements were made in the arrangements to ensure that the air traffic control services were aware of the characteristics of each Concorde test flight and that Concorde route planning took full account of the pattern of other civil traffic. BAC has now discontinued carrying out flight tests of this kind in regions where there could be any other civil traffic.
