HC Deb 09 April 1974 vol 872 cc91-2W
Mr. Redmond

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many unfilled vacancies were notified to his Department on the latest convenient date, showing vacancies for men and women separately; what were the corresponding figures in each of the last four years; and, of these vacancies, how many had been notified for more than one week, one month, two months, three months, and six months, respectively.

They relate to April 1973 and to full-time employees whose pay for the survey reference period was not affected by absence. Estimates are not available for areas smaller than such sub-divisions of standard regions of Great Britain, as then defined.

Mr. John Fraser

The following table shows the total numbers of unfilled vacancies. The figures relate only to vacancies notified to employment offices and careers offices and do not measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour. I regret that information about the length of time for which the vacancies had been notified is not available.
