asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement on his latest talks with the CBI and TUC.

The Prime Minister

I met representatives of the TUC on 27th March and of the CBI on 28th March. I also chaired the meeting of the NEDC on 3rd April. In these discussions we reviewed the serious economic and social problems inherited from the previous administration and the action this Government, in co-operation with the TUC and CBI, are already taking to deal with them.
