asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the delays in the holding of public inquiries into aspects of the planning process, what proposals he has to expedite such procedures.

These delays are attributable to the backlog of planning appeals and in this connexion I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given on 3rd April 1974 to the hon. and gallant Member for Winchester (Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles).—[Vol. 871, c.363].
