HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 c70W
Mr. MacGregor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what year the present limit of child's income, before children's allowance is reduced, of £115 per annum was fixed; and what that limit would be if it were now fixed at the same real level as on that original date, taking into account the fall in the purchasing power of the £ sterling.

Dr. Gilbert

The limit of child's income was fixed at £115 in 1963-64. Taking account of the fall in the purchasing power of the pound, the equivalent in real terms by February 1974 would be £216.
