HC Deb 04 April 1974 vol 871 c441W
Mr. Robin F. Cook

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide a grant to the Scottish Association of Boys' Clubs to support the work of their residential centre at Dunkeld.

Mr. William Ross

Grants are normally given to national voluntary organisations only towards expenditure on headquarters administration and the training of leaders and in 1973–74 the association was offered £10,000 for these purposes. In view, however, of the special circumstances of the association's residential centre and the efforts it is making to put its finances on a sound footing, I agreed to its request for a special once-for-all grant of £5,000 towards its expenses in 1973–74, and this has now been paid.
