Q15. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Prime Minister if he will now propose the setting up of a Crown Department providing for full public accountability for all public money spent on the institution of monarchy.

This expenditure is already subject to a high degree of public accountability and a change in the arrangements would not be justified. My hon. Friend, with me and other right hon. and hon. Members, was a member of the Select Committee on the Civil List which surveyed all these matters and made recommendations to the House.
