HC Deb 04 April 1974 vol 871 cc422-3W
Mr. Woodhouse

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if she will publish all reports compiled by the Motor Industry Research Association on Models 57, 59, 66, 67 and 70 of the invalid tricycle relating to braking and swerving, interior noise level, side and rollover impact protection, and secondary safety, interior controls and construction;

(2) if she will publish all reports compiled by the Motor Industry Research Association on Models 57, 59, 66 and 67 of the invalid tricycle relating to frontal impact, fire risk and wind gust.

Mr. Alfred Morris

Constant use has been made of the facilities of the Motor Industry Research Association and other organisations to ensure that the vehicles meet the current construction and use regulations and any particular requirements of the Department's specifications. Staff resources do not allow the extraction of all relevant material and data produced over the years. The only formal reports commissioned and obtained from the Motor Industry Research Association, apart from those already published, have been on the interior noise level in the Model 70. In this instance comparisons with commercially marketed vehicles are involved and, for this reason, the report could not be published in its entirety. I will consider whether extracts conveying useful information can be made available.
