HC Deb 04 April 1974 vol 871 c442W
Mr. Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland which area health boards in Scotland are able now to fulfil the free family planning service announced by the Secretary of State for Social Services.

Mr. William Ross

There are family planning clinics in every health board area, either operated by the board itself or by voluntary agencies on its behalf. A free service is now provided at all such clinics.

At many centres this continues a free service previously provided by the local health authority, but health boards have been reminded that the level of provision has varied considerably from area to area and that the objective must be to provide a consistently high standard of service throughout the country.
