HC Deb 02 April 1974 vol 871 c317W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Trade which local authorities, residents' associations and other bodies representing people living in the neighbourhood of the East Midlands Airport at Castle Donington he will be consulting in the course of his review of the Maplin airport project and the development of regional airports.

Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what discussions he intends to have with the authorities at Teesside Airport in view of his statement that the Government attach particular importance to the development of regional airports in the review of the Maplin project.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The review of the Maplin project which my right hon. Friend announced on 21st March is primarily concerned with a reappraisal of air traffic forecasts and airport capacities. It is not intended to be a formal inquiry, but I shall be pleased to consider any views from local authorities and other bodies concerned, including the Teesside Airport Joint Committee and those in the neighbourhood of the East Midlands Airport.
