§ 43. Sir David Rentonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what action has been taken, and what further action it is proposed to take, in the light of the report on children with specific reading difficulties issued by the Advisory Committee on Handicapped Children.
§ Mr. ArmstrongAs I stated in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Harborough (Mr. Farr) on 26th March—[Vol. 871, c.77.]—the report was generally welcomed, and my right hon. Friend hopes that local education authorities will act on its recommendations. Progress is being made in providing facilities for remedial teaching and in-service training for teachers, and the number of educational psychologists has risen substantially in recent years.
