Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has received the communication from the hon. Member for Newham, North-West drawing attention to dangerous brakes and the need for reviewing his policy for the testing of road vehicles; and what action he proposes to take in connection with this matter.

Brakes, with all other aspects of vehicle safety, are being considered in a review of the MOT test. I shall announce my conclusions on this as soon as consultations with the interested organisations are completed.
