§ Dr. GilbertThe value at February 1974 prices of the goods and services which could have been purchased for £2,000 in March 1954 and March 1964 was about £4,800 and £3,700 respectively. Information on prices in March 1974 is not yet available. The estimates are based on the changes in the consumers' expenditure deflator between 1954 and 1962 and thereafter in the General Index of Retail Prices.
