HC Deb 25 October 1973 vol 861 cc665-6W
Mr. Ashton

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will have discussions with the Secretary of State for Education and Science to ensure that the school leaving age and minimum recruiting age are better co-ordinated for boys who are 16 years of age between February and August 1974.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

The Ministry of Defence and the Department of Education and Science are constantly in touch on matters of common interest and I am not aware of any lack of co-ordination about the minimum age for recruiting school leavers into the Armed Forces. If the hon. Member is concerned about an individual case and will give me details I will look into it.
