HL Deb 25 October 1973 vol 345 c803WA
LORD HAWKE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of the possible fuel shortage this winter, they will lower the minimum temperatures prescribed for offices and shops under regulations.

LORD DRUMALBYN

Section 6 of the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 provides for the maintenance of a temperature of 16°C (60.8°F) after the first hour where this is reasonably practicable, having regard to the circumstances in any particular situation. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Employment does not believe it is necessary to make any change in this minimum requirement at the present time.
