HC Deb 25 October 1973 vol 861 c595W
41. Mr. Dykes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the rate of rise of earnings per man-hour in the first three quarters of 1973, compared with the equivalent periods in 1972 and 1971.

Mr. Chichester-Clark

I regret that estimates of increases in hourly earnings over the periods concerned are not available. The increases in the monthly index of average earnings, which is based on weekly and monthly earnings, were:

Per cent.
December 1970 to August 1971 6.7
December 1971 to August 1972 8.4
December 1972 to August 1973 7.6
after correcting for normal seasonal variations.
