HC Deb 25 October 1973 vol 861 c662W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Attorney-General when he now expects to receive the reports of Lord Justice Phillimore's committee on contempt of court and of Mr. Justice Faulks' committee on defamation; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The Committee on the Law of Contempt of Court is proceeding as a matter of urgency. It is not, at present, possible to say when it will report as it has had to consider further evidence in the light of the recent decision of the House of Lords in theSunday Times case. It is hoped that the Committee on the Law of Defamation will report early in the new year.
