HL Deb 23 October 1973 vol 345 cc618-9WA
LORD HYLTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of the present shortage of qualified housing managers and public health inspectors and what steps they are taking to remedy it.

BARONESS YOUNG

The recruitment of appropriate staff to meet local government needs is a matter for the local authorities themselves. Local government has the necessary central machinery in the Local Government Training Board and the Public Health Inspectors Education and Registration Boards to identify its staffing and training needs and to make arrangements for meeting those needs.
