§ 36. Mr. Whiteheadasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will reconsider the policy of producing 2½-inch Ordnance Survey maps only for areas where the sales are likely to meet the cost of production.
§ 47. Mr. Barnesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters he has received on the subject of the future of the Ordnance Survey 2½ inch-to-the-mile series of maps.
§ Mr. RipponA review has been carried out of the requirement for maps at the scale of 2½ inches to the mile. Over 150 bodies were consulted, and in addition more than 600 letters on this question were received. I have taken the decision that the Ordnance Survey should continue to publish map coverage of England, Wales and Scotland at this scale.
