§ Mr. Warrenasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what objections have been made to the United States Government, or to official bodies concerned with the sale of goods to the USSR, concerning the proposed sale of advanced computers and radar equipment for air traffic control in the USSR;
(2) what information has been made available to his Department from the United States Government, or other official sources, concerning the proposed sale of United States manufactured computers and radar equipment to the USSR for air traffic control.
§ Sir G. HoweThe Government have no knowledge of a proposed sale by the United States of air traffic control equipment to the USSR. Any proposal of this kind would need to be considered in accordance with internationally agreed export control arrangements applicable to sales of strategic items to the USSR to which the United Kingdom and the United States are both partners. If my hon. Friend has any further information, it will be considered.
