§ Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the priorities in British foreign policy towards Latin America with special reference to the recent events in Chile.
§ Mr. AmeryMy right hon. Friend the Prime Minister said at Lancaster House in May 1972
It is the policy of this Government to give its strong support to the principle of co-operation and trade with the Latin American States. There have been a number of important developments within Latin America since that statement was made but these do not affect the validity of the general principle stated by my right hon. Friend. It applies, of course, to Chile in view of our long-standing friendship with that country and our mutual interest in trade and co-operation.
