§ 51 Mr. Evelyn Kingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce, as a matter of urgency, legislation on the implementation of the Speaker's Conference on Electoral Law, having particular regard to that legislation which affects Service men.
§ Mr. CarlisleA measure enacted now could not, in any case, be effective for next year's register, and the Government consider it preferable to await further recommendations from the conference before embarking upon legislation. Meanwhile, the Government are concerned to ensure that Service men are made fully aware of their right to register and receive the forms for that purpose.
