§ 41. Mr. J. H. Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will take steps to promote research and development with a view to reducing the consumption of fuel, particularly petroleum-based fuels, for all types of freight and passenger vehicles.
§ Mr. Tom BoardmanResearch and development into improved engines for vehicles is essentially a matter for industry. Developments aimed at reducing vehicle fuel consumption are being looked at in this country and elsewhere. We shall encourage any development which shows real promise.
