HC Deb 12 November 1973 vol 864 cc14-5W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make it his policy to lay any arrangements concerning petrol rationing in the House of Commons before outside sources are notified.

Mr. Emery

If petrol rationing became necessary, the House would of course be informed of our plans well before rationing was introduced. In preparing contingency plans it is necessary to hold confidential discussions with various organisations.
