§ Mrs. ThatcherThe Medical Research Council, for which I am responsible, has had its grant in aid increased by just over 50 per cent. in the last three years, from £17.8 million in 1969–70 to £26.8 million in 1972–73. The total increase in Government spending on medical research from all sources increased over the same period from £43.2 million to £65.5 million.
