§ Mr. Waddingtonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will introduce legislation to make it mandatory on local education authorities to
184Wwhether there has been any financial cutback in phase III of the rebuilding of Plymouth College of Further Education, and, if so, what were the effects and the extent of any such cutback; and whether, in view of the Government's decision to close the Dockyard Technical College, she will make special provision for extra expenditure for Plymouth to fulfil this extra commitment.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasThis project has recently been accepted for the Department's building programme. The financial allocation requested for the project by the authority was reduced because it was felt to be based on rather too high a forecast of student numbers. The Department's allocation does, however, take account of the merger in 1970 of the college of further education and the former Dockyard Technical College. The major part of the former Dockyard Technical College premises are being used by the college of further education and the remainder by the Ministry of Defence.
