asked Her Majesty's Government:

In what circumstances and under what authority, or Act of Parliament, information has been transferred from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department of Health and Social Security or any other Government Department, to the Home Office or to any police force with a view to the investigation of persons in the United Kingdom who are alleged to have entered illegally or to have overstayed a permitted visit.

Such information is transferred under a wide variety of circumstances, where transfer would be consistent with the law and likely to assist its implementation.
