§ Dame Irene Wardasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is aware that there is a complaint about some of the conditions under which the staff at the Social Security headquarters at Longbenton are working; and if he will investigate, with a view to improving where necessary the working conditions.
§ Mr. DeanI am aware that this matter has been raised through Whitley Council channels. About half the accommodation at Longbenton is new permanent building of a high standard: the remaining accommodation consists of standard single storey office buildings which are being considered by the Property Services Agency of the Department of Environment for uplift of standards.
