HC Deb 02 May 1973 vol 855 c324W
Mr. Knox

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much productivity rose for all industries and services in the years 1965 to 1970; and in the years 1971 and 1972.

Mr. Nott

Percentage increases over the previous year in gross domestic product at constant prices per person employed are as follows:

1965 1.9
1966 1.5
1967 3.1
1968 4.6
1969 2.5
1970 2.6
1971 (provisional) 3.6

Sufficient employment data to make an adequate provisional estimate for 1972 is not yet available.

The estimates of gross domestic product are based on output statistics. Persons employed include employees, employers and self-employed persons; full-time and part-time workers are all counted as full units. The figures are published regularly in the Monthly Digest of Statistics.
