§ Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the effect of the Aldington-Jones proposals on Merseyside and the 278W extent to which the docks there are now under- or over-manned.
§ Mr. Dudley Smith2,692 registered dock workers from Liverpool and Birken-head have left the industry under the special severance scheme reducing the register in the two ports to 7,103. During the five weeks ending 23rd March there was an average net daily shortage of 1,080 men in the ports.
