Children's Allowances and Age Exemption

Mr. Meacher

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what was the loss of revenue due to children's allowances for income tax and surtax in the financial year 1972–73; and what is the estimate of the corresponding figure for 1973–74;

(2) what was the loss of revenue due to age exemption in the financial year 1972–73; and how much it is expected to be in the financial year 1973–74.
