§ Dr. Dickson Mahonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take further steps to urge implementation by local authorities of Section 3 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970; how many local authorities have made provisions for meeting the special housing needs of persons covered by the Act; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI would refer the hon. Member to my reply on 13th February to the hon. Member for Glasgow, Gorbals (Mr. McElhone). Local authorities were reminded a year ago of the requirement placed on them by the Act to have regard to the special housing needs of the disabled; and I have recently asked them to supply me with details of the arrangements in their areas for providing housing suitable for disabled persons so that I may consider whether further action on my part is necessary.—[Vol. 850, c.323.]
