§ Mr. CarlisleThe table below gives, for England and Wales, information relating to persons found guilty of murder. Any murder was a capital offence until 21st March 1957, when the distinction between capital and other murder introduced by the Homicide Act 1957 came into effect. There is no record of a 257W conviction since 1957 for any other offence which was capital in 1957.
