§ Mr. Robert Cookeasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent meetings have taken place between his Department, the Greater London Council and the Westminster City Council with a view to the eventual removal of traffic from Parliament Square.
§ Mr. ChannonNone. There were technical discussions in 1970 and 1971 on the possibility of diverting traffic from Bridge Street and creating a parliamentary precinct as proposed by the Services Committee in its Second Report of Session 1969–70. However, the matter is closely connected with the new parliamentary building and I hope to report further when a decision has been reached about that.
