§ 33. Mr. Judd
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a statement on the research being undertaken by his Department into the inter-relationship of lead poisoning, its damage to the brain and consequential behavioural disorders which may be related to criminal behaviour.
§ Mr. Carlisle
Examination of the medical effects of lead ingestion, including possible behavioural effects, is primarily a matter for my right hon.396W Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services. I understand that a committee under the chairmanship of his chief medical officer is considering the physical effects of lead in the environment, including the possible mental effects of lead poisoning.
